List the name, location, cost and times of the show.
Who is the show made for? Children, older generation, couples?
How does it relate to previous offerings from the same playwright or director? What previous awards has the theatre company won?
Avoid vague phrases like “good”, be more imaginative and descriptive.
Avoid cliches and try not to sound too gushing in your praise.
Tell the reader why the show is worthy of praise.
for example, compare these two sentences:
a) Tina Smith is moving in the lead role.
b) With clear diction and an open expression, Tina Smith perfectly captures the down trodden younger sister.
Relate the new performance or production to something you have seen in the past.
Give your reader an outline of the plot so they know what to expect, but don’t comment on every twist or turn.
Remember a good, honest review does not need to be long!
