Dreams.  Hopes.  Blood.  Tears.  Despair.

And that’s just getting the show description to the Fringe Office in time.

No work is ever wasted.  So any manuscripts of Virgil set to rap or Shakespeare arranged for acapella, which is in a portfolio is back catalogue.  It is a resource.

Obviously agreements that were made maybe even a few weeks ago now need to be revisited and either renegotiated or released because come hell or high water, this year’s Royal Mile will be a flyer free zone.

Imagine that.  The first August in decades the cobbles of the High will be empty of impromptu stand ups, half naked yogis bent double and silent of acapella.

Anyone who has registered a show in this years Edinburgh Fringe Brochure has already done an incredibly brave thing – put their heads above the parapet, took a financial, creative and emotional gamble and put their idea out there.  In these current times, that is a JOY which should not be lost on the world.

From restraint comes genius – and there are other options to go to Fringes that are later in the year or earlier in 2021.  Certainly other opportunities will arise and this is particularly important for new talent to NOT LET GO OF THAT MOMENTUM!!

Hopefully there is a way to harvest this creativity but its legacy lies in the Artist’s back catalogue.

And so, as a creative industry, we rise and fall.  Together.  As one.
